Exchange network guide

The network you pick on an exchange decides where your deposit lands. Here is what each name means, what the address looks like, and when a memo or tag is needed.

ERC20 (Ethereum)

No memo
Address
0x + 40 hex characters
Also called
ERC-20, ERC20, Ethereum, ETH, Ethereum Mainnet

The default deposit network and usually the most expensive. The same 0x address also exists on Base, BNB Chain, Arbitrum and others, so picking the wrong network can strand funds even though the address looks valid.

BEP20 (BNB Smart Chain)

No memo
Address
0x + 40 hex characters
Also called
BSC, BEP-20, BEP20, BNB Smart Chain, BNB Chain

Same address format as Ethereum. A BEP20 deposit sent to an address you copied for ERC20 will not arrive on Ethereum.

TRC20 (TRON)

No memo
Address
34 characters, starts with T
Also called
TRC-20, TRC20, TRON, TRX

A popular low-cost rail for USDT. Addresses starting with T are TRON only; they are not valid on EVM networks.

Chain details →

Solana (SOL / SPL)

No memo
Address
32-44 characters, base58
Also called
SOL, SPL, Solana

SPL tokens use the same wallet address as SOL. Exchanges typically give a dedicated deposit address per asset.

Chain details →

Arbitrum One

No memo
Address
0x + 40 hex characters
Also called
ARB, ARBITRUM, Arbitrum One

Do not confuse Arbitrum One with Arbitrum Nova, which is a separate network.

Chain details →

Optimism (OP Mainnet)

No memo
Address
0x + 40 hex characters
Also called
OP, OPTIMISM, OP Mainnet

Same address format as Ethereum. Confirm the network name says OP Mainnet or Optimism.

Chain details →

Base

No memo
Address
0x + 40 hex characters
Also called
BASE, Base Mainnet

Coinbase's layer 2. Same 0x format as Ethereum, so check the network before sending.

Chain details →

Polygon (POL / MATIC)

No memo
Address
0x + 40 hex characters
Also called
MATIC, POL, POLYGON, Polygon PoS

Do not confuse Polygon PoS with Polygon zkEVM, which is a separate network.

Chain details →

No memo
Address
0x + 40 hex characters
Also called
AVAXC, AVAX C-Chain, AVAX-C, Avalanche

Avalanche also has X-Chain and P-Chain addresses (X-avax1... / P-avax1...). Those are not valid for C-Chain deposits.

Chain details →

Bitcoin (BTC)

No memo
Address
Starts with 1, 3, bc1q or bc1p
Also called

Some exchanges do not accept Taproot (bc1p...) deposits - check the exchange's rules.

Chain details →

Lightning Network

No memo
